George Washington Carver is most famous for inventing over 300 things out of peanuts.

George Washington Carver was born in Missouri.
He was a slave.
He was the first African American to go to college in Iowa.
He was known as the "Peanut Man"
He loved science and art.

George Washington Carver loved plants. He invented a way to make cheese, ink, and soap out of peanuts.

This helped the plants grow big and strong.

While learning about plants he discovered a pest called the cotton weevil.
The cotton weevil eats cotton.
He learned that cotton weevils don't like peanuts.
Because planting peanuts was a risky crop, he made things that out of peanuts that kept cotton weevils away.
