THE RAND MANSION

ORIGINS

  • Project started by George F. Rand as a home for his family
  • Rand died before the building was finished, and the project was taken over his his son, George Jr.

ARCHITECT

  • Rand Sr. was the original architect on this project, but his son finished it for him when he died in a plane crash over England.
  • He and his siblings lived in it for three years before selling it

THE MASONS

  • In 1925 the Rands sold their estate to the Masons, who converted it to the Buffalo Consistory
  • The Masons made minor additions and resold it to Canisius High School

NOTABLE FEATURES

  • The Rand Mansion has many architectural feats including it's Georgian Revival entrance, rounded pavilion, and chimney pots

CURRENT USE

  • As we all know, the Rand Mansion is home to the Crusaders.
  • We have made many additions to the original building including Kennedy Field House, Beecher and Montontay Wings, Tripi Field and more
