PRESENTATION OUTLINE

INSTALENT

ASHES

  • The remains of a burnt object
  • The priest put ashes on our foreheads to begin the 40 days of Lent. The ashes are from the palms used on Palm Sunday the previous year.

RICE BOWL

  • An object for collecting extra change in Lent
  • We put our extra change in the rice bowl so we can donate the change to less fortunate families to make a difference in their lives.

SIMPLICITY

  • Something basic
  • Understanding Jesus should simple. We read and hear about him through the gospels and through God's word. We should especially learn about Jesus during Lent since he forgave our sins by dying for us.

WALK

  • To move at a gradual pace
  • Jesus walks us through life by teaching us all we can know about God, himself, and the apostles. By Jesus teaching us this we can understand why he rose from death and taught us.

LOVE

  • feelings of attraction for someone or something
  • God loves us no matter what. By send his son to die for us shows a great amount of love for his people. Jesus died for our sins so we could be with our father in heaven.

BIBLE

  • A collection of God's word
  • All of what God has said in sited in the bible. The bible talks all about Lent and how Jesus was betrayed by Judas. This amazing collection has been written in many languages for all to enjoy.

PRATICE

  • To carry out or perform
  • We must practice doing what Jesus would do in order to be like him. We must not be tempted and we need to love everyone. Jesus loved everyone that is why he died for our sins.

PRAYER

  • A solemn request for help or expression of thanks addressed to God
  • Jesus prayed to God right before he died to tell him that if it was in God's will, he would die. Since Jesus died he opened the gates of heaven and allowed us to go to heaven.

EMPTY

  • containing nothing; not filled or occupied.
  • The apostles were empty before Jesus came along and filled their hearts with God's word. When Jesus died they began to fill other people's hearts

FISH FRIDAY

  • It's not so much about eating fish as it is about not eating meat
  • This shows how Jesus fasted during his 40 day journey and how we can be more like him.

QUIET

  • To be silent of unheard
  • When we pray we must be in a quiet place to be able to listen to hear what Jesus says. What Jesus went to the garden to pray he asked his apostles to kept watch so that he would not hear anything.

GATHERING

  • To come together
  • When Jesus was hung on the cross everyone gathered around the Messiah to support him and his faith. When he died they were in so much pain. The apostles all gathered for Jesus when he rose again on the third day

MOTIVATION

  • Something that allows you to strive
  • Jesus is our motivation to be the perfect person we can be. By dying for us he showed that we must die for one another.

SACRAFICE

  • Giving up something for a greater cause
  • We must make sacrifices like Jesus did. He sacrificed his life for our sins and so that we could go into heaven.

CALL

  • a cry made as a summons or to attract someone's attention
  • Jesus calls us to listen and speak the word of God. By doing this we can become more like him in many ways such as understanding and kindness

CELEBRATING SACRAMENTS #tbt

  • Baptism
  • To fully become one with Jesus we must go through the Sacraments of Initiation. Jesus would also anoint the sick, becoming one of his many miracles, and also a sacrament

MERCY

  • compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone
  • God had mercy on us, that is why he sent his only son to open the gates of Heaven and allow us to have eternal life with him. By doing this God showed he loves us.

SERVICE

  • the action of helping or doing work for someone
  • We must do God's service by spreading and teaching his word. To do this we must first understand what he is saying in the gospels and scripture.

REST

  • To relax or refuel
  • We must rest on the Sabbath or Sunday because it is a holy day meant for going to church and praying. We need to rest so that we can be ready for sacrifice like Jesus during his crucifixion

STRENGTH

  • Physical and mentally ability to push the limits
  • Jesus had the strength to do what was right so why can't we. If we can come close to what Jesus can do we are succeeding

COMMUNITY

  • A group of people
  • We must pray and worship as a community so we all can help each other learn and grow in our faith.

JOURNAL

  • A book for text
  • I am using a digital journal right now to show my understanding of Christ and how affect our life during lent. Jesus affects our life during lent by dying for our signings and teaching us to be one with God through our entire life.

CREATION

  • The making of something or someone
  • God created us to be in his image. That means we should try to learn from his son Jesus. By trying to be like him we can better ourselves but still be ourselves.

MEATLESS MEAL

  • A meal without meat
  • We never eat meat on a Friday in lent. Instead many people eat fish as stated earlier. By not eating meat it shows how we fast during lent as Jesus did during his 40 day journey.

CLIMB

  • To move up (vertical)
  • Jesus had to climb the mountain with the cross he was going to die on. That climb showed great endurance and trust in God.

CHURCH

  • A place of worship
  • We, as a community, pray and read the bible in church. Church is a sacred place for God and we go there to worship him. Jesus filled the apostles with the Holy Spirit after he ascended into heaven. Peter was the first Pope and set-up the Catholic Church.

EMBRACE

  • To accept or support
  • Jesus embraced his place in God's plan to open the Gates of Heaven for all. If we can embrace our place in God's plan everything will workout accordingly

PURPLE

  • A darker color
  • The priest wears purple during lent to show penance but on Easter he wears red to show it is a religious holiday. The priest wears purple because Jesus was covered in purple during his mockery.

REFLECTION

  • To think about deeply
  • We reflect on readings in mass to fully understand them. The homily is a reflection and comparison during modern life. The reflection should include a prayer and a meaningful thought.

BREAD

  • An eatable item
  • Bread is also referred to the body of Christ and is given to us during the Eucharist. We should receive to Eucharist everyday during lent in order to be one with God.

SOLITUDE

  • Being alone
  • Jesus was in solitude during his mockery and during his time on the cross. Thanks to Jesus we are never alone because he is always with us, watching over us, and influencing us.

HANDWRITTEN

  • To write with a pen or pencil
  • The very first bible was handwritten by many authors and religious figures. By having handwritten items we can see what was poured into it. God was handwriting Jesus's path way before his son's life.

TIME

  • indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and future regarded as a whole
  • Jesus had to suffer for 40 day; the Israelites for 40 years. Jesus also had to deal with the angry Roman soldiers that would whip him. His endurance shows how much he loves us.

CANDLE

  • A stick of wax that is flammable
  • Jesus, like a candle, is the light. We must follow him and his teachings to the Gates of Heaven, which he opened. His teachings allow us to be more like God because his teachings came directly from God.

HELP

  • To assist someone
  • We all need to help each other in our community by teaching and spreading the word of God. Jesus died because he wanted to spread the word of God but we have the freedom of speech. Modern day people can't kill us if we want to talk about our religion.

TEA

  • A relaxing beverage
  • Tea helps relax the mind and spirit. We should always be relaxed when talking to Jesus but we need to remember to listen to him as well.

CLOVER

  • A herbaceous plant of the pea family that has dense, globular flower heads, and leaves that are typically three-lobed. It is an important and widely grown fodder and rotational crop
  • A four leave clover is considered lucky, but we don't need luck if we have Jesus. Jesus and God have a plan for us but it will only work if we accept it. He first part of God's plan was having Jesus die on the cross. By dying for us Jesus opened the Gates of Heaven.

LOVED ONES

  • People who you like or attracted to
  • We are all Jesus's loved ones. He cares so much for us he would die for us, in fact he did. He died on the cross to save our sins and open the Gates of Heaven.

RED

  • A color or shade
  • All the priests wear red on Easter to symbolize all the blood from Jesus and how he suffered for us. The priests also wear red on Christmas.

PALMS

  • A type of plant
  • When Jesus entered Jerusalem all the people layer down palms for the Messiah. Now a days we use the ashes from last year's palms for the ashes the priest puts on our heads

OPEN

  • Allowing access
  • We must all open our hearts to Jesus as Jesus opened the Gates of Heaven. We must open our hearts to Jesus to allow Him to fill our hearts with His teachings

CHARITY

  • the voluntary giving of help, typically in the form of money, to those in need.
  • We must be charitable in our life. We need to be charitable to everything in order to be like God. By being like God we can fulfill His plan.

FOLLOW

  • go or come after (a person or thing proceeding ahead); move or travel behind.
  • We need to follow Jesus in all aspects of our life in order to become more like Him. We need to be charitable and be able to love each other so much we would die for each other.

WATER

  • A drinkable liquid that provides life
  • As members of the Church we were baptized with Holy water. The water washed away all original sin and allows us to become pure and one with God as Jesus was.

PASSION

  • strong and barely controllable emotion
  • Jesus has a passion for all of us. He loved us so much he died for our sins and opened the gates of Heaven. He is a main piece in God's wonderful plan.

VIGIL

  • A period of keeping awake during the time usually spent asleep, especially to keep watch or pray.
  • During the Easter Vigil Jesus was betrayed by Judas for 30 silver pieces. Judas walked up to Jesus and kissed him on the cheek alerting the guards that Jesus was there. Jesus ultimately knew Judas was going to betray him because it was part of God's plan.

LIGHT

  • the natural agent that stimulates sight and makes things visible.
  • Jesus is the light of the world and we need to follow Him. He will guide us through times of darkness and hardship and will lead us to eternal life with our father: God.
