  • MAY 1st, 1886
  • Groups of workers mounted a national demonstration for 8 hour work days
  • After this, many strikes started to happen

  • MAY 3rd, 1886
  • Fights happened between police and workers
  • Union leaders called a protest rally in Chicago Haymarket square

THE PROTEST

  • Someone threw a bomb at a police officer killing him
  • In the riot that followed there were gunfire between police and protesters, killed dozens on both sides

AFTER STRIKE

  • We now have 8 hour work days

THESIS

  • I think that unions didn't treat their workers good at first
  • 9+ hours a day
  • Low wages
  • Now have 8 hours day
