PRESENTATION OUTLINE
LENGTH OF PENCIL VS. MASS LAB
MATERIALS I USED
- Pencils
- Scale
- Sharpener
- Ruler
Prediction:
I believe as the length of the pencil will go down so will the mass of the pencil.
Research Question:
So, will the length of the pencil have any affect on the mass of the pencil?
Independent/Dependant
Independent: The independent of the lab is the pencil, because that is what I control.
Dependent: The dependent of the lab is the mass because I cannot control the mass.
Procedure:
I took 6 pencils and sharpened them all at different lengths and then I measured them (longest to shortest) and then checked the mass of each pencil on a scale.
DATA
- 19cm: 6.2 grams
- 18 1/2 cm: 5.7 grams
- 18 cm: 5.5 grams
- 17 1/2 cm: 5.3 grams
- 17 cm: 5.1 grams
- 16 cm: 4.9 grams
- 14 cm: 4.3 grams
CONCLUSION
AS THE LENGTH OF THE PENCIL WENT DOWN, SO DID THE MASS.
