LENGTH OF PENCIL VS. MASS LAB

Prediction:

I believe as the length of the pencil will go down so will the mass of the pencil.

Research Question:

So, will the length of the pencil have any affect on the mass of the pencil?

Independent/Dependant

Independent: The independent of the lab is the pencil, because that is what I control.

Dependent: The dependent of the lab is the mass because I cannot control the mass.

Procedure:

I took 6 pencils and sharpened them all at different lengths and then I measured them (longest to shortest) and then checked the mass of each pencil on a scale.

DATA

  • 19cm: 6.2 grams
  • 18 1/2 cm: 5.7 grams
  • 18 cm: 5.5 grams
  • 17 1/2 cm: 5.3 grams
  • 17 cm: 5.1 grams
  • 16 cm: 4.9 grams
  • 14 cm: 4.3 grams

CONCLUSION

AS THE LENGTH OF THE PENCIL WENT DOWN, SO DID THE MASS.
