What were the wider circumstances that led the person to do great things?
He saw that his race was not being treated right, that they were suffering. He had considered racism and segregation to be an affront to God’s will. He was a leader in the civil rights act
What contribution did he make to the larger social environment?
His quest for freedom. It began during the movement of the bus boycotts of 1955.he changed it by telling people that blacks are the same as white’s. Also that we all should be treated equally.
Were they important as a symbol and/or was it because they did something great?
He lead the civil rights movement and he won. He got people to treat everyone the same.

Martin Luther King jr. was born in 1929 in Atlanta Georgia. King, a Baptist minister and civil rights activists, had a seismic impact on race relations in the United States, beginning in the mid 1950s.

Among his many efforts, King headed the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. Through his activism and inspirational speeches he played a pivotal role in ending the legal segregation of African-Americans citizens of the civil rights act of 1964 and the voting rights act of 1965
