Owls are very adaptable to different environments. They are all over the world. Owls are very independent.

There are over 20 known species of owls. They vary in size and color. Their color and size are some of the adaptations that help them survive in the wild.

Facts about owls

  • Most owls are nocturnal (they hunt at night).
  • Owls are raptors. They have sharp beaks and claws.
  • Owls eyes allow them to see and hunt at night.
  • Owls have excellent hearing.
  • Owls wings are nearly silent.

Owls regurgitate the fur, bones, and teeth of their prey. The regurgitated matter comes out in a "pellet" form. These are called owl pellets.
