PRESENTATION OUTLINE
SUMMARY
- Perseus was prophesied to kill his grandfather, King Acrisius of Argo. As a result, his mother, Danaë was locked away in a metal room, so she would never give birth. Zeus, in the form of golden light, managed to get to her anyway. So, when Acrisius saw that Danaë was pregnant, he decided to have her thrown into a wooden chest, and throw that wooden chest into the ocean. Both Danaë and her child, Perseus, survived. Years passed, and the local nobleman of the island they landed on wanted to
SUMMARY PART 2
- marry Danaë, but he did not want to deal with her son. So, he convinced Perseus to bring him the head of a gorgon. The gods saw this, and decided to aid Perseus, and so both Hermes and Athena appeared to him to outfit and guide him. Hermes gave him a sword that could not be bent or broken by the gorgons, and Athena gave him a reflective shield, so that Medusa could not turn him to stone. He then travelled to the Grey Women to find the location of the gorgons. He then travelled to the nymphs in the

- North, and received a magic bag, winged sandals, and a hat of invisibility. He took these, and slayed Medusa. He then saved Andromeda from the sea serpent. When he got home, he heard about the marriage proposal, and was furious. He took the head of Medusa and turned the king to stone.
