Water Pollution is one of the world’s greatest problems. What is water Pollution? Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies such as lakes, rivers and oceans. It occurs when when pollutants eg chemicals, oils etc are added to the water bodies without suitable treatment to take away the harmful substances. In developing countries such as some African countries, water pollution is a leading cause of death, by people drinking from polluted water sources.
Some solutions to the water pollution problem are: use water wisely eg, turn taps off when you are not using them, do not throw chemicals,oils, paints and medicines down the sink and buy environmentally safe cleaning products to use at home
There are many effects of water pollution as it is not only harmful to animals and water life but humans too. Some effects of water pollution include: death of water animals, breakdown of food chains and diseases in humans as people (eg cholera) can eat seafood that has been polluted or poisoned.
