PKU gets its name from an alpha amino acid called Phenylalanine.

It's passed by parents through genes.

Symptoms include (If not treated,) being anxious, moody and a higher risk of ADHD or worse, brain damage.

The best way to deal with it is a heavy no protein diet.

There is no cure for PKU, but the diet will help a lot.

Babies are tested by taking some blood from the heel.

Most kids who suffer from PKU are generally blond with blue eyes.
