  • John Q. Adams recreated the national bank
  • John Q. Adams gave permission to make canals and roads
  • Adams was a democratic republican
  • Adams persuaded people to change their minds on certain issues

  • Adams ran against Jackson again.
  • Adams lost the reelection.
  • Andrew Jackson won the election.
  • Some people say he did a corrupt bargain to get elected.
  • He used the spoils system a little too much. (Spoils system is when a president gets voters to vote for him for a government job.)

  • Jackson's parrot learned how to cuss in English and Spanish.
  • The parrot was so bad about cussing that, at Jackson's funeral they had to take poll out of the funeral place because he was cussing so much.
