FRACTURE

WHAT IS A FRACTURE?

A COMPLETE OR PARTIAL BREAK IN A BONE.

FRACTURE

  • Causes: Trauma, Overuse, Diseases that weaken bones
  • Treatments: Reseting the bone in place, Immobilizing it in a cast, or splint to allow it time to heal, Surgery.

WHAT IS A DISLOCATION?

AN INJURY WHERE A JOINT IS FORCED OUT OF NORMAL POSITION

DISLOCATION

  • Causes: From injury, Usually from a fall, Auto accident, Participation in sports.
  • Treatments: Prompt medical attention is needed to put the joint back in place, Followed by several weeks of rest.

SPRAIN

WHAT IS A SPRAIN?

A STRETCHING OR TEARING OF LIGAMENTS

SPRAIN

  • Causes: Wrenching or twisting of the ligaments
  • Treatments: Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation

  • Causes: Overexerting, Twisting it awkwardly
  • Treatments: Pain relievers, Ice, Splinting

THE CONDITION OF HAVING A ABNORMALLY LOW BODY TEMPERATURE

HYPOTHERMIA

  • Causes: Cold Temperature, Death, Stay out in cold too long, Fall in water.
  • Treatment: Warm environment, Wrap them in warm blankets.

A CONDITION IN WHICH SKIN ANS THE TISSUE JUST BELOW THE SKIN FREEZE

  • Causes: Wearing clothing not suitable for cold weather, Staying out in cold too long, Touching materials such as ice
  • Treatments: Rewarming of skin, Pain medicine, Surgery, Clot busting drugs
