MUSEO DEL PALACIO DE BELLAS
ARTES
It was inaugurated under the name of Museum of Plastic Arts on November 29 in 1934. Was the first art museum in Mexico and permanently exhibits 17 works by seven national artists.
This museum is in Av. Juárez, Centro Histórico, 06050 Mexico City, CDMX.
The admission fee is $60 general and for the students and teachers the entry is free. It opens at Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Room Alvaro Siqueiros
There was a temporary exhibition of Alfaro Siqueiros, they showed murals of this Mexican painter and different oil paintings of Antonio Ruiz " El Corcito" called ¨Carrera de bicicletas¨ and ¨Desfile civíco escolar¨.
Room Jorge González Camarena
Camarena's room was the largest in my opinion, at the entrance there is a mural of black allegories explains how one lived the renewal of political art. They showed avant-garde videos and oil-based paintings.
There were many allegories of María Ilarraz Miranda. They had showcases with newspapers talking about the avant-garde to these years. Many of the paintings portrayed museums of the mexican republic as the Museum of Modern Art.
Room José Clemente Orozco
There were bookcases with book covers by Raimundo Mancisidor. The walls had earphones to listen to the interview of Alfredo Zalce Torres on the history of his paintings.
Room Rufino Tamayo
In this room they showed murals related to the victory. Linoleum paintings of imperialism and war. There was a small section of the history of the Mexican Union of Electricians and Siqueiros was in charge of the decoration of the union offices.
I liked the museum and the temporary exhibit they had. I knew better Mexican painters and muralists, their history and the different art museums that are in all the Mexican Republic.
