HISTORY

  • It was originally used by fishermen to document information of fish sizes and species when they caught their fish
  • The fresh caught fish were painted with non-toxic ink then the fish was covered with rice paper then smoothed over so that the print of the fish is copied on the paper
  • This method left an exact copy of the fish's side that was coated with ink
  • After the fishermen were done the fish was washed and used to eat
  • Since the begging of this method, it has become a art form
