EARLY LIFE

  • Maria Sklodowska was born in Warsaw, Poland on November 7, 1867.
  • Curie was very intelligent and excelled in school.
  • She was rejected from the boys-only University of Warsaw.
  • Curie finally made it to Paris to study at the Sorbonne.
  • Curie completed her master's degree in physics in 1893.

FAMILY LIFE

  • Marie was introduced to French physicist Pierre Curie.
  • A romance developed between them and they researched together.
  • They were married in Seine on July 26, 1895.
  • Pierre and Marie Curie had two daughters named Irene and Eve.
  • The children's grandfather watched them while their parents worked.
