A Farming People
The Hmong lived in houses that were made of bamboo. These houses did not contain running water.

Clearing Land
Cutting and burning the trees the boys cleared the field.

Planting Rice
Pounding and weeding the rice, the women were at work. Summer was twice the work.

Farming on the Mountainside
They planted there crops on the mountainside. They also wove there own baskets.

Everyone must work
Both the men and women work in the fields. They work early morning to dark. Most of the work done is by hand.

Little time for School
Before the war few students attended school. During the school week the kids would live at there school.

The hmong were known for farming. The Vietnam war had changed everything. The Hmong fled into jungle.
