Horror Opening: Editing Analysis

Saw II

In saw II we see the use of shot-reverse-shot. This is a technique that is usually used when characters are having a conversation, the character who is speaking at the time is usually the main focus in the frame. After this, the camera switches to focus on the second character and after the second character has finished their lines it switches back to the first character for the reply. This happens many times until the conversation is over.

By doing this, it enables us to see the characters reactions to what has been said in the conversation. This is continuity editing.
