MITOSIS

By: Mimi Anderson

INTERPHASE

When interphase is occurring, the chromosomes duplicate and each one coils into 2 strands, forming a cchromatid

PROPHASE

During this second phase, the centrioles move to the opposite sides of the cell and the spindle begins to form

METAPHASE

After the spindle has formed, the chromatids line up in the center of the cell and the spindle attaches to the centromere of each chromatid

ANAPHASE

In this phase, the spindle shortens causing it to pull the chromatids apart, the chromatids are now called chromosomes

TELOPHASE

In this final stage, the chromosomes uncoil, the spindle disappears, and the 2 new nuclei form
