- India's banking system is government regulated
- India uses the rupee and breaks down to 100 paisa
- 43 rupees equals 1 U.S. dollar
NATURAL RESOURCES
- Main natural resources are, iron ore, bauxite, and copper ore
- It is estimated that India has 120 billion of coal
- Large petroleum reserves have been found off the coast
- India has huge amounts of mineral deposits including diamond
OVERVEIW
- Most of the country is involved with agriculture
- Not only is India self sufficient it also exports food grains wise
- Manufacturing in India includes heavy and high technology
- Manufacturing is highly government owned
- Country's chief manufactures include textiles, iron and steel, and electronics
Food grains= wheat corn and so on
TRADE
- India's main trading partners are
- U.S., Japan, U.K., Russia, Germany, and Saudi Arabia
- Today the U.S. is India's top trading partner
- The U.S. receives about 16% of India's export and supplying 10% of imports
One of the poorest countries in the world
But also one of the largest and fastest growing economies
India has a mixed economy leaning more towards a market economy
