  • India's banking system is government regulated
  • India uses the rupee and breaks down to 100 paisa
  • 43 rupees equals 1 U.S. dollar

NATURAL RESOURCES

  • Main natural resources are, iron ore, bauxite, and copper ore
  • It is estimated that India has 120 billion of coal
  • Large petroleum reserves have been found off the coast
  • India has huge amounts of mineral deposits including diamond

OVERVEIW

  • Most of the country is involved with agriculture
  • Not only is India self sufficient it also exports food grains wise
  • Manufacturing in India includes heavy and high technology
  • Manufacturing is highly government owned
  • Country's chief manufactures include textiles, iron and steel, and electronics
Food grains= wheat corn and so on

TRADE

  • India's main trading partners are
  • U.S., Japan, U.K., Russia, Germany, and Saudi Arabia
  • Today the U.S. is India's top trading partner
  • The U.S. receives about 16% of India's export and supplying 10% of imports

One of the poorest countries in the world
But also one of the largest and fastest growing economies
India has a mixed economy leaning more towards a market economy
