The Great Depression was a worldwide economic crisis. The stock market crashed so people couldn't really buy things.

Franklin D. Roosevelt-
guided U.S. through crisis. He was our 32nd president, and he supported other countries during World War II. He took advise from Bethune. He helped African Americans get rights.

Mary McLeod Bethune-
was a
great beducator. She was a leader for many African Americans, and she opened hospital for African Americans. She gave advise to Roosevelt.

The new deal-
Helped people who don't have jobs/money during the depression. The government spread out the money. There was two deals total.

  • A national pension system-pays out old age pensions
  • Oversight of labor practices-wagner act, oversees labor union
  • Agriculture price supports-pay farmers to raise crops
  • Protection of savings-deposits money
  • Regulation of stock market
