PRESENTATION OUTLINE

CLARENCE DARROW

HAILEY BROOKS

Clarence Darrow reached the peak of his career in the 1920's. He is the most famous trial lawyer in the U. S. He's known as a champion of the underdog because of his keen ability to understand the human nature. This is outlined in the famous Scopes trials.

CLARENCE DARROW; CHAMPION OF THE UNDERDOG. FAMOUS TRIAL LAWYER.

Darrow was born on April 18th, 1857 in Farmdale, Ohio. His parents are Ammirus and Emily Darrow.

Darrow was given the middle name "Seward" because they so admired Senator William H. Seward of New York.

Darrow attended law school for only one year before being accepted into the Ohio bar in 1878. This was highly uncommon back in the day, and this gives us some insight as to how remarkable he was as a lawyer.

Though he was greatly known for the Scopes trial, which was a trial of a schoolteacher teaching Darwinism--completely unheard of back then, he was internationally known for his achievements and skill. Defender in a hundred or more murder trials, no client of his had ever been persecuted.

He died on March 13th, at the age of 90. He had been fighting heart disease.

Darrow greatly impacted America. He uplifted the underdogs and gave them a fighting chance. He gave them a fair trial and got most out of the death penalty.

I admire Clarence Darrow solely because of his deep understanding of human nature. He never shied away from hard work and it's an encouragement.
