  • Indian reservations are areas reserved for use by Indians.
  • The Lenape reservation is said to be the first Indian reservations.
  • The term "Indian reserve" was first used after the French&Indian war.
  • Indian reservations were originally very large.
  • However, eventually they became smaller and smaller.

Spokane Indian Reservation

  • Created in January 1881.
  • Originally over 3 million acres.
  • Now only 159,000 acres.

  • 972.517 square miles of land.
  • 337.392 square miles of water.
  • 10,660 residents as of 2010.
