Para Swimming vs. Competitive Swimming

Para swimming allows
those with disabilities to swim competitively.

Competitive swimming is for those without disabilities.

HISTORY OF PARA SWIMMING

  • First Paralympic Games happened in Rome, Italy, 1960.
  • Para Swimming was played at the first games.

HISTORY CONTINUED

  • It was one of the 8 original sports.
  • Since the first 1960 Games, the U.S. has won 652 medals.
  • 253 of them are gold.
