EDVARD MUNCH

WHO IS EVDVARD?

  • A Norwegian painter
  • Born on December 12, 1863 in Loten, Norway
  • Died on January 23,1944
  • Was known for his paintings and graphic artist
  • His paintings were influcenced by psychological themes

EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION

  • In 1879, he began attending a technical college to study engineering
  • A year later, Edvard had a passions for art
  • In 1881, he enrolled at the Royal School or Art and Design.

HIS SUCCESS

  • Three years later, Edvard received a scholarship and traveled to Paris
  • His painting symbolized his feelings about the death of his sister
  • His paintings: "Despair"(1892), "Melancholy"(1892-93), "Anxiety"(1894), "Jealousy"(1894-95), "The Scream"(1893)

  • Edvard's mental state was fully on display, his style varied greatly, depending on his emotions at the time.
  • Edvard soon became known to the art world
  • His art was know for the deep emotions he felt in his paintings

LATER YEARS AND LEGACY

  • Success was a hard struggle for Edvard
  • In the 1900s, his drinking spun out of control and in 1908 he was suffering from paralysis
  • He later moved in Ekley where he lived in isolation and began painting landscapes
  • He nearly died of influenza in the pandemic of 1918-19, after two decades he died.
  • His art influenced German Expressionism in the early 20th century.

  • Edvard painted right up to his death, depicting his weak condition and various physical disorder and illnesses in his work
  • In May 2012, "Scream" was known for one of the most famous and important works of art produced.
