PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Geography:
The area of the Mayan civilization extended throughout the northern Central American region, including the present-day nations of Guatemala, Belize, western Honduras and El Salvador, as well as southern Mexico. The topography of the area greatly varied from volcanic mountains, to a porous limestone shelf, known as the Lowlands, in the central and northern regions.
Politics:
The Mayans developed a hierarchical government that was ruled by kings and priests.
Food:
The Mayans lived off of a variety of foods such as Corn(Maize), beans, and coca beans that were used to make luxurious drinking chocolate. Coca beans were so valuable that they sometimes used them as"money".
Religions:
The Mayans religion involved several aspects of nature, astronomy and rituals. Most Gods represented a form in nature, such as Sun God, Kinih ,Ahous, or Maize God. The Mayans were known for their calenders and astronomical buildings. These were used during their religious rituals.
Culture:
Human sacrifices were a major part of the Mayan culture but we're only done during special occasion. The calandra was also very important to the Mayans.
