ANGIOSPERMS AND GYMOSPERMS

ANGIOSPERM

  • The flowering plants, are the most diverse group of land plants.
  • Most abundant group of plants.
  • They contain seeds and fruit.

TYPES OF ANGIOSPERMS.

  • They include all plants that have flowers and produce seeds enclosed in a carpel.
  • A carpel is a modified leaf that encloses seeds and may develop into a fruit.
  • Small flowering plants like tulips.

ANGIOSPERM REPRODUCTION

  • They reproduce by seeds or pollination.
  • a mature multicellular organism is produced by new Cells.
  • For two plants to cross fertilize, there must be a mechanism for the two gametes to reach each other safely.

GYMNOSPERMS

  • The gymnosperms are a group of seed-producing plants that includes conifers, cycads, Ginkgo, and Gnetales.
  • As land-dwelling plants developed further past ferns.
  • Several modifications were developed for water conservation from gymnosperms.

TYPES OF GYMNOSPERMS

  • Gymnosperms are seed-bearing vascular plants.
  • Cycads, ginkgo, yews and conifers.
  • The largest group of living gymnosperms are the conifers.

REPRODUCTION OF GYMNOSPERMS.

  • A male cone contains microsporophylls.
  • carried by wind to female gametophyte
  • To later create more gymnosperm.
