• It was used as a hunting and building tool
• It was used to push an object apart
• It first appeared in the form of stone
• It is made of two inclined planes joined together

USES

• For cutting, splitting, tightening, to hold back, to hold together or for scraping

TYPES OF WEDGES

• Single- triangular tool often made of of metal, stone, wood or plastic. It is thick on one end and it tapers to a thin or a sharp edge
• Double- two single wedges put together back-to-back
