Ruby’s (Red) wind power comes from her mom, and when she’s angry the wind picks up. This power has caused her to go from Foster family to foster family but this time she ends up with the Grooves a nice couple who have a petting zoo. The grooves truly love her but red isn’t sure she likes it here. She wants to go live with her mother who’s been in jail for over three years but as soon as she finds out that her mother has been out of jail for two months without telling Red. Well that’s a problem. Red Meets a boy named Marvin who has an upbeat happy attitude and throughout all her time at the Grooves she realizes that she enjoys it there but, as soon as she gets settled in, her mom comes back in a raging temper. Will Red end up with her mom like she dreamed of, or will she stay with the Grooves where she know she’ll be safe?

I like this book because even though the author wrote it in third person it felt like you were reading it from first person. You could really understand how the main character, Red was feeling and you could understand her backstory as well. This was a very emotional book and honestly I could barely put it down. Lindsay lackey did a great job of including characters emotions and their back stories. That change their point of view on many things. I thought it was a very powerful book. Another reason why I really loved it was that it included the quote, “It always seems impossible until it’s done”
