Counsel: right judgement; knowing the difference between right and wrong and doing what is right
A person who practices counsel avoids sin and lives out the values taught by Jesus.

If you are at a party, and someone offers you drugs, you will need the gift of counsel to guide you.
If you use this gift, you can make the right decision and stay safe. If you do not use this gift, you will probably make a bad decision that will impact the rest of your life.

With the gift of counsel, the Notre Dame community can stay a safe place. With this gift, students can make the right decisions: staying away from harmful substances, getting their work done on time, and working hard.

Nine fruits of the Holy Spirit: love, joy, peace, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control
The gift of counsel can contribute to having the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit because it helps to know what is right and what is wrong. With counsel, you can create a base to build upon with your good deeds and actions.
