It's the study of how authors and speakers achieve their purpose through the skillful and effective use of language.

What is their purpose?

  • to persuade
  • to inform
  • to entertain
  • to appeal
  • to explore

Aristotle (384-322 B.C.E) is the father of rhetoric.

  • Leader, delegate who will do what
  • Use your phones to look up pros or cons.
  • Present your argument using ethos, pathos, and logos
