Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus

  • Historic railway station in the city of Mumbai, India
  • Victorian Gothic Revival architecture in India
  • Major railway stations in the Metropolis of Mumbai and more than 3 million rail commuters use it everyday
  • In addition to the initial 4 railway tracks, the terminus now facilitates 7 suburban and 11 separate out-station tracks
  • Designed by F. W. Stevens, is spread across a 2.85 hectare area
  • The premise of the building is a strictly protected area maintained by Indian Railways. The property is protected by a 90.21 hectare buffer zone.

Howrah Junction railway station

  • Oldest station and largest railway complex in India
  • The terminal station is located on the west bank of the Hooghly River
  • With 23 platforms, it has the highest train-handling capacity of any railway station in India
  • Platforms 1-15 are located in the old complex also referred to as Terminal-1, while 17-23 are in the new complex (Terminal-2).
  • Terminal-1 serves the local and long-distance trains of Eastern Railway as well as local trains of South Eastern Railway. Terminal-2 serves the long distance trains of South Eastern Railway.
  • Diesel Loco shed (84 locos) Electric Loco Shed (96 locos)

Chennai Central Station

  • Built in the Gothic Revival style, the original station was designed by George Harding
  • The entire complex has 17 platforms to handle long-distance trains with 5 platforms exclusively for suburban trains.
  • The total length of the station is about 950 m.
  • On an average, 19 trains are operated daily from the station of which 12 have 24 coaches
  • About 400,000 passengers use the terminus every day, in addition to 20,000 visitors accompanying them to see-off or receive them
  • Chennai Central is a major transit point for shipment of inland and sea fish in South India through trains.
  • . The terminus is the first railway station in the country to have facilities of an ambulance

Lucknow Charbagh Station

  • Built on a raised plinth, it has a rectangular ground plan with projecting porticos. There are several towers and clusters of circular Awadhi domes.
  • The words 'Char Bagh' refer to the four gardens which existed here earlier.
  • More than 85 passenger trains originate from here and more than 300 trains pass from the station.
  • It has nine platforms. As of 20 July 2016, more than 320 trains (or 146 pairs of trains) (including 1 Duronto, 2 Rajdhani, 1 Shatabdi, 46 Superfast trains i.e. 23 pairs of superfast trains, 3 Garib Raths and 142 i.e. 71 pairs of express trains ) and 28 slow passenger trains started from, terminated at or passed through LKO station.

Nagpur Railway Station

  • One of the oldest and busiest Stations of Nagpur was inaugurated in its present from on Jan 15th 1925 by the then Governor Sir Frank.
  • Grand structure was built from red stone brought from Saoner.
  • A total of about 242 trains from various destinations halt at Nagpur, these include passenger, express, mail, Duronto, Rajdhani, Garib Rath trains. Of these, about 53 run daily and 26 terminate or originate from Nagpur. Almost 1.6 lakh passengers board/leave Nagpur Railway Station
  • Platforms 10 (8 broad gauge and 2 narrow gauge) Tracks 13

Gorakhpur Railway Station

  • On 6 October 2013, Gorakhpur became the world's longest railway platform, after inauguration of the remodelled Gorakhpur Yard, with a stretch of around 1.34 kilometres (0.84 mi).
  • The city of Gorakhpur serves 10 local railway stations known as Gorakhpur Junction, Gorakhpur cantt, Domingarh, Sahjanwa, Sihapar, Maniram, Nakaha jungle, Kushmi, Jagatbela, and Unaula.
  • Gorakhpur is amongst the top hundred booking stations of Indian Railways. It handles over 189 trains daily.
  • The station offers Class A railway station facilities.

Royapuram Railway Station

  • The oldest railway station currently operational in India
  • Royapuram railway station ranks second in India in terms of space availability with 246,000 sq m, next to the Howrah station in Kolkata.
  • The station, with an elevation of 7 m above sea level, is 1,015 m long and 420 m wide and covers about 72 acres
  • The station has only 450 m track length, against the 1,000 m needed for a terminal
