Supporting Children through Relocation

Giving your child an opportunity to learn a new culture and maybe a new language is a wonderful gift.

It does come with some challenges.

Depending on the age of your child they may react differently to the move.

Regression, aggression and depression are normal reactions to a relocation.

Your child may start wetting the bed again, struggle with sleeping or have tantrums, but it should be temporary and is their way of showing culture shock.

Teenagers may lock themselves into their rooms or struggle academically in the beginning.

While this is not pleasant, it is quite normal!

The best support you can give your child is time and understanding.

Make sure your kids knows that being sad is okay, and sad feelings are part of the process of moving.
