Transpiration is an important part of the WATER CYCLE.

It is part of the EVAPORATION step.

ROOTS

  • Roots are the first part of the plants to start growing. They collect water and anchor the plant in place.
  • The first part of transpiration is when water gets sucked up the root.

XYLEM

TRAVELS THROUGH THE

XYLEM

  • The xylem are thin tube-like structures running through the stem of the plant.
  • They function similarly to straws because they suck up water.

LEAVES

LEAVES

  • The leaves have tiny veins in them and the water runs through the veins.
  • Water going through the leaves is an important part of photosynthesis.

STOMATES

GOES OUT THE

STOMATES

  • Stomates are tiny holes on the leaf of the plant.
  • Water going out these holes is the last step of transpiration.

GUARD CELLS

WHICH ARE PROTECTED BY THE

GUARD CELLS

  • Guard cells help close the stomates when there is a drought (less rain).
  • This helps save the water that is in the plant and to slow transpiration.

WATER VAPOR

WHICH GOES OUT IN THE FORM OF

WATER VAPOR

  • After the water vapor goes out the stomates, it goes into the sky and condensation begins.
  • This step is part of the EVAPORATION process

Afterward, the clouds turn into rain and the cycle starts all over again! :D
