SUPER POWER

• A superpower is a powerful strong nation, it's a major country.

UNITED NATIONS

• The United Nations was formed in 1945, to maintain peace, security, and to cooperate with the other nations.

IRON CURTAIN

• The Iron Curtain is a barrier that divided Eastern and Western Europe during the Cold War.

CONTAINMENT

• This attempted to restrict the Soviet Union power and influence around the world by not letting communism to spread.

MARSHALL PLAN

• Was a plan to aid the promotion of economic recovery in Europe after WWII.

NATO

• A mutual pact of defense by western nations in 1949

WARSAW PACT

• A defense pact between the USSR and Eastern Europe.

ARMS RACE

• It was a competition to make the best weapons around.

CULTURAL REVOLUTION

• A revolutionary time period in China between 1966 to 1976.

KOREA WAR

• A war that happened in 1950 and ended in 1953, between North and South Korea. The war had the Soviet, China, U.S, and UN to give aid between the two.

VIET CONG

• These were insurgents for South Vietnam during the Vietnam war.

VIETNAM WAR

• The war began around the 1950's and lasted up until the year of 1975.

DOMINO THEORY

• Was a belief that if Vietnam fell because of communism then the rest of Asia would have followed behind it like dominos.

COVERT ACTION

• Is a secret political, economic, or military parathion ordered by the government to give aid to a different country.

DÉTENTE

• The tensions of Cold War between the east and west start to relax.

DETERRENCE

• A policy of building incredibly deadly weapons used as airstrikes that no nation will risk attacking.

The Cold War changed the war because of all the tensions and competition between countries, it caused evolution to advance a lot quicker then it would had if the Cold War never came to be.
