The researchers and bioligest Dr.Tarben Daeneke, Dr. Dorna Esrafilzadeh from RMIT university in Melbourne, Austrailia and Bert Weckhuysen a chemist from Utrecht University In the Netherlands thinks they have found a way to turn gas into solid carbon, which they believe can help with global warming.
They began creating a mixture of gallium , indium and tin but added catalytically active cerium to speed up the process.
After they had created the mixture they added a zap of electrisity and the combination of the cerium and energy converted the gas into solid carbon, releasing only pure oxgen ,which is what they wanted!
This event is important to me and my community because if we don't find a way to stop global warming all animals will become extinct and we humans will run out of food.
Cerium:the chemical element of atomic number 58, a silvery white metal. It is the most abundant of the lanthanide elements and is the main component of the alloy misch metal.
