PRESENTATION OUTLINE

HOW THE MOON CREATES TIDES

BY CHARLES OHEARN

TIDES

  • Tides are affected by the moons gravitational pull.
  • The moon pulls water into its directions causing a high and low tide.
  • Their are two tides daily that are caused by the difference in gravity fields.

THE SCIENCE

  • The tide rises and falls because of gravitational pull between the earth and the moon. Earth is tipped to one side as it rotates on its axis. The gravitational pull strengthens and weakens twice a day. The pattern of tides changes by 50 min a day .

FUN FACTS

  • Tide - the alternate rising and falling of the sea, usually twice a lunar day at a particular place, due to attraction of moon and sun.
  • This is called a tidal bulge .
