NATIVE AMERICANS

  • Lived off the land for buffalo and maize.
  • They also wanted the land to stay how it was uninterrupted by white settlers.

RANCHERS

  • According to the text I read the ranchers wanted to and did sometimes drive Indians out.
  • They fenced in grass land.
  • Used grass land for pasture for cattle.

HOMESTEADERS

  • Lived in sod houses like the one from the museum.
  • They filled up e land that the native Americans lived on that they didn't want tore up.
  • They tilled up the land for planting crops.

TODAY

  • Nearly all plains land developed into sprouting farms and ranches.
  • Few preserves remain for native prairie.
  • Native Americans now live on reservations, not a lot of them are out doing things in the new world.
