BATTERIES AGE

  • Batteries usually require a 12-volt battery that's last 3 to 5 years
  • Knowing how old it is will tell you when you should be replacing your battery

HOW KNOW FIND OUT THE AGE

  • Open cars hood and find battery (usually in right front of engine compartment.
  • Check date on battery
  • If no date check code to figure it out

  • Engine cranks slowly
  • Dim headlights
  • Issues with electrical components
  • Dashboard warning light
  • Swollen battery case

  • Most auto part stores will test for free
  • Installation is usually free
  • Disposal is usually free

REPLACE BEFORE YOU'RE LEFT STRANDED

  • If the battery fails the free test REPLACE IT!
  • Batteries are often sold with warranties
  • You will be better off buying a top performer battery.

MAINTAIN YOUR BATTERY

  • Do visual inspections for corrosion around the battery.
  • Look for chalky white substance.
  • Clean the terminal with wire brush.
