CUMULUS CLOUDS

  • Cumulus clouds are puffy clouds that sometimes look like pieces of floating cotton.
  • The altitude is about 1000 m.
  • They can develop into a giant cumulonimbus, which is a thunderstorm cloud.

STRATUS CLOUDS

  • Stratus clouds are uniform grayish clouds that often cover the entire sky.
  • Strattus clouds altitude is below 6,000 feet.
  • When heavier rain falls from them, their title is changed to nimbostratus clouds.

Cirrus clouds

  • Cirrus clouds are thin, wispy clouds blown by high winds into long streamers.
  • Cirrus altitude is forming above 6000 m.
  • They generally mean fair to pleasant weather.

FOG

  • Fog is simply a cloud close to Earth’s surface.
  • Fogs altitude is visibility to 1000 meters or less.
  • Fog is caused by tiny water droplets suspended in the air.

CUMULONIMBUS clouds

  • Cumulonimbus clouds often mean that a thunder storm is brewing.
  • Cumulonimbus clouds exist from near ground to 50,000 feet up in the air.
  • Cumulonimbus clouds are associated with powerful thunderstorms. Snow, rain, hail, lightning, thunder, and sometimes tornadoes.
