PRESENTATION OUTLINE

One thing that I learned in seventh grade that will help me to "grow up to be a wise and good person" is to keep some things just to yourself. This is because things that you say can be in a touchy subject for someone and what you said might get interpreted wrong or exaggerated.

Holling Hoodhood's worst month was January. An event that made this month Holling's worst month was that photos of him in bright yellow tight leggings were put all over his school, this was all because of Doug Swieteck's brother. Something that made Holling finally feel proud of himself was used against him to embarrass him in front of everyone at his school.

Holling's best month was April. An event that made this month Holling's best month of his school was, that Holling finished first in his first varsity cross-country race and he received a $100 dollar savings bond, that he would use later on for a good reason. On top of that Holling got a smooch by his girlfriend, Meryl Lee, for finishing first in the varsity cross-country race.

The "war" that changed Holling the most was the war against his family, specifically his dad. In the first month Holling was looking for someone to help him with Mrs. Baker, and his sister told him to get guts and stand up to her by yourself. Throughout the story Holling shows guts in every month, one month it was tripping Doug Swieteck's brother then it was standing up to his father.

The grade I would give Holling Hoodhood's year is a B. This is because Holling Hoodhood had many ups and many downs, he didn't have a month where something bad didn't happen or the opposite, something good didn't happen. He found out that he could trust Mrs. Baker and that she really didn't hate his guts. Holling also stood up to his dad at the end of the book, showing the guts he had developed over the course of the year. This also, symbolized the growing pains he had to go through. He had live with his bad and good decisions.

The gutsiest thing that Holling does in the novel is that he stands up to his dad. This is the gutsiest thing that Holling does because through out the whole book Holling shows no guts to his father when his father tells him what to do and how to do it. Also, his father keeps telling Holling that is going to be the next owner of HoodHood and Associates, stating that he isn't going to have a choice of what he wants and doesn't want to do.

One teacher in my educational career that was of my one "allies" was a teacher in first grade, Mrs. Ingram. Mrs. Ingram noticed that I couldn't really read that well, so when the class was reading or doing something else that they could do independently, she spent 1 on 1 time with me, trying to make me become a better reader. Mrs. Ingram also, sent me to a teacher in
the school that specialized in helping students to learn how to read.
