KABUL REVOLUTION

  • The new communist president, Mohammed Taraki, became an ally of the USSR. The revolutionary government of Afghanistan was far from stable. There were rivalries and disagreements. Also many Muslims were angered by socialist reforms.

THE SOVIET INVASION.

  • Amin was a communist however the USSR did not trust him. They thought he was a spy and that they thought a Muslim backed revolution would happen.

WHAT

  • Russia was at war for 10 years
  • It led to economic problems in Russia.
  • People weren't happy.
