BUT HOW CAN STRANGERS ON THE INTERNET HURT ME?

• They can break into your computer (even your webcam), record you even when you think it's safe and use the footage as blackmail
• They can use your personal info to hurt people you love, rob your house, kidnap you, rape you

WHO CAN GET ATTACKED?

• Anyone can, especially you.
• Even famous celebs with fancy security have been hacked

• Mark zuckerberg (pinterest, Twitter)
• Taylor swift (Twitter, instagram)
• Justin Bieber (Twitter)

What can I do to protect myself?

ALWAYS

• Ramp up the privacy settings on your accounts
• Use a different password for all your accounts (If your password is your birthday, CHANGE IT NOW.)
• Password protect all devices
• Think twice before you post

Future employers, schools, and yourself will see EVERYTHING. Ask yourself, "Am I okay with complete strangers knowing this?"

ALWAYS

• Post only the day after. Never post in real time.
• Block anyone harassing you and report to authorities
• Delete and block sketchy people (red flag: no mutual friends.)
• Google yourself to see how easy to hunt you are
• Be nice (not too nice)

NEVER

• Give away your location. DO NOT POST YOUR TICKETS, YOUR ADDRESS.
• Use passwords that are easy to guess (your birthday?!! Hmmm??)
• Click sketchy links or emails (virus alert)

NEVER

• Give away any personal info - sometimes even a pic of your dog is dangerous! And don't brag about how much stuff/money you have.
• Be friends with complete strangers. If you're going to have online stranger friends, link NO PERSONAL INFO TO THAT ACCOUNT. don't even use your real name as your username.

If you really need to meet an online stranger in real life, be sure to always LET SOMEONE ELSE KNOW WHO AND WHERE.
