This is newsworthy because women don’t get enough credit, and even when people discourage them, these athletes determination and perseverance are a lesson for children never to give up, no matter what others say to discourage them.
This affects me because no matter who you are, everyone should get equal rights. “We decided to focus on female athletes because we think they don’t get enough credit,” author Gregory Zuckerman told TFK Kid Reporter Marley Alburez. “There are so many amazing, remarkable female athletes.”
I chose this topic because I think women don’t get enough credit for what they do, and before, Simone Biles, surfer Bethany Hamilton, and track-and-field legend Wilma Rudolph who weren’t famous before, people didn’t believe in them. Now they are olympians and those people didn’t believe in them were wrong.
I picked the Cultural lens because their are a lot of important women around the world with different races and people look up to them for what they did no matter what race they are.
