- Where God communicates to the soul the highest union possible on earth; a foretaste of heaven
- The soul is now quite passive; God is more active
- “It’s no longer I who lives; it’s Christ who lives in me.”
- Constant awareness of God’s presence; prayer is as natural as breathing
- Prayer: contemplative
