FLAG PROTECTION ACT
- Whoever knowingly physically defiles the flag shall be fined under this title or imprisoned
- This rule does not pertain to any flag that has become worn down or soiled
SUPPORTED BY
- The conservatives
- The flag of the U.S. Is a national freedom
- Should be prohibited because of its unpatriotic nature
- Burning the flag shows flagrant disrespect for the country
NOT SUPPORTED BY
- Liberals and several veterans
- The amendment would restrict people's freedom
- Flag burnings are rare
- Put the country at par with the totalitarian regimes of other countries
- The wording of amendment is loose
OUR OPINION
- Disrespectful to our country to burn or tear the flag purposefully
- Disrespectful to the actual people who have defended our country
