I feel that there will be no jobs in the future.

Are you looking for a job in the future? Is my hypothesis absurd? As we realise that our entire understanding of employment is paternalistic, hierarchical, and unequal, the concept of a "employment contract" will go away.

A 'job' isn't a contract between equals — it's 'linked service and patronage,' where 'human resources' exist to safeguard the corporation, and where one option available to management is to keep people down.

True adult-to-adult interactions are the way of the future: 'free agents' contracting as equals, with 360-degree feedback provided in real time based on continuing work.

This would result in:

  • Tied employment contracts are abolished and replaced with standard peer-to-peer contracts.

  • Basic Income for All

  • Eliminating the perplexing tax on the sale of labour (why do we disincentivize people from working and businesses from hiring?!)

There's also a switch.

FROM COMPLEX TAXATION ON EMPLOYMENT, ALL CONSUMPTION, CAPITAL GAIN, AND BUSINESS PROFIT

TO A MUCH SIMPLIER, MORE PROGRESSIVE TAX ON TOTAL INCOME, CAPITAL, AND EXTRAORDINARY GOODS

(As well as wealth transfer out of the country, financial transactions, and carbon taxes that is progressive.)

Of all, our entire legal framework is the consequence of a shaky compromise between obvious exploitation, which was pioneered in the early industrial revolution in the United Kingdom, and worker power through the Trade Union movement's unity.

Visit Quarry Bank Mill, a 'progressive' business, to learn how youngsters used to work a 72-hour week, with rent and the cost of tainted food from the owner's shop subtracted from their pay. Electric illumination (which let workers to work at all hours), sugar (cheap, acceptable, storable energy), and people themselves were all merely food for the machine, so it's no surprise there were links to slavery.

From this essentially unequal starting point, rights legislation and exploitation constraints emerge.

In the future, health and safety protection (who is liable for the back injury computers and posture cause 'digital nomads'? ), anti-discrimination, and other measures that are so important in civilised society will be required.

We must safeguard the fundamental human right to a fair wage for a fair day's work. Exploitation is lurking, and if we aren't careful, it will seize new systems.

Our existing laws, on the other hand, are entirely based on tethered, power-over relationships expressed in employment contracts.

This isn't going to be quick.

Reid Hoffman has been harping on about 'tours of duty,' or doing a job for four to seven years before determining what to do next, for a long time. This is just a'more acceptable' model of connected exploitation, as the terminology suggests.

Venkatesh Rao has made thoughtful comments regarding the 'gig economy,' which can be beautiful if you're 'above the API,' making the machine work for you, but is far more harsh and dehumanising if you're 'below the API,' just a cog in the machine, controlled by the algorithm.

Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs) are intriguing because they could provide paradigms and technology to enable some of this. As things get started, there will be a lot of messes.

And it will be the privileged who will be given this opportunity first (though worldwide remote opportunities and flexible work will also create freedom in poorer economies, just as they create servitude in richer countries).

The most difficult time is right now, when the old is still alive and the new hasn't really blossomed. But I believe something similar will occur.
