2.
BURDEN OF DISEASE
People from low socioeconomic level groups have higher rates of cancer and diabetes ->burden of disease
They are also more likely to have cardiovascular diseases and arthritis.
A large influence of burden of disease of males and females, as well as population groups, is attributable to SES.
Means that they live with chronic diseases and illnesses for a longer period.
Mental health and depression are also a burden- caused by sense of uselessness

3.
LIFE EXPECTANCY
Lower socioeconomic groups experience reduced life expectancy and HALE
Their HALE is far greater compared to people from high SES
LOW SES: 78, HIGH SES: 81

4.
MORBIDITY OF DISEASE
Morbidity of disease is more prevalent amongst people in low socioeconomic groups
Indicative of the determinants of health
For example, the morbidity of cancers is more prominent compared to people from HIGH SES
Personal ill health shows that LOW SES are likely to report having "fair" or "poor" health
Whereas HIGH SES groups state their health is relatively "good" or "excellent"

5.
MORTALITY
Low SES groups experience high mortality rates, which agrees with the higher burden of disease
19% (males) and 12% (females) of the mortality burden is due to socioeconomic disadvantage
Their mortality is also related to the low life expectancy of people from low SES

6.
PREVALENCE
People from low socioeconomic backgrounds have a higher prevalence in
Cardiovascular disease, arthritis, mental health cases and respiratory diseases
7.
PREVALENCE
Low socioeconomic groups are more likely to have:
Diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, arthritis, mental health problems and respiratory diseases
High socioeconomic groups have the above, but in decreased number of cases.
