DEAD SERIOUS: A BOOK FOR TEENAGERS ABOUT TEENAGE SUICIDE

A: ANXIETY DISORDER

  • Overwhelming feelings of panc and fear
  • Uncontrollable obsessive thoughts
  • Painful memories
  • Likely to suffer from depression

B:BULLIED

  • Atleast half of students who commit suicide amongst younger people was because of bullying
  • Bully related suicide can be connected to any type of bullying.
  • Some types of bullying include: physical, emotional, and cyber

D:DIVORCE

  • Children of divorced parents are 7x more likely to suffer depression
  • Children feel pain, they dont have same security they once had
  • Parents downgrading the opposite ex spouse
  • Different expectatioan to live up to

I:INSURMOUNTABLE

  • To big of a problem to overcome
  • Many people who think suicide is answer believe that the
  • Problem cant be fixed or overcome
  • Causing them to believe that self harm or suicide is only option

G:GUILT

  • Thinking its your fault for someone to commit suicide
  • Not being able to forgive yourself
  • The pain gets to be too much

K:KILL

  • Killing someone by accident or even by purpose can haunt someone forever
  • Person never being able to forgive themself
  • The pain becoming too much so they take their own life

W:WORTHLESS

  • Feeling as if you aren't good enough
  • Feeling like no one likes you
  • Feeling like no one cares about you

H:HOPELESSNESS

  • Feeling like it will never get better
  • Wanting to give up
  • Feeling worthless

C:CUTTING

  • A way to express emotional pain
  • The relief after you cut doesn't last long
  • Most poeple try to keep it a secret
  • When people self harm they are trying to cope with the pain

E:EATING DISORDERS

  • Bullying can lead to eating disorder
  • Eating too much
  • Not eating at all

F:FRIENDS

  • Having friends there to support and listen is important
  • So the person doesnt feel alone
  • To try and cheer you up

J:JUDGMENTAL

  • Never judge someone who feels this way
  • Never believe that they wont actually kill themself
  • Tell someone
  • Dont think that its only for attention

L:LOSS OF AN IMPORTANT PERSON IN LIFE

  • Losing someone important can cause someone to be depressed

M:MIND

  • Takes control
  • Hard to stop the painful thoughts
  • Can cause serious problems

N:NEGLECT

  • Not fitting in
  • No one including you
  • Parents not paying attention to you

P:PSYCHATRIST

  • Medical dr who evaluates patients
  • Helps and listens to your problems
  • Decides whether its all physical or emotional

Q:QUESTIONS

  • Trying to get someone to talk
  • Why do they feel that way
  • When did they start to feel that way
  • How can you help
  • What has happened to make you feel that way

R:RECOGNIZE THE WARNING SYMBOLS

  • Change in appearance
  • Change in behavior
  • Change in mood

S:SUICIDE

  • Killing ones self
  • Depression
  • Quick
  • In the moment

T:TERMINAL ILLNESS

  • Someone wanting to end their life sooner knowing
  • Theyll have an illness that will kill them anyway

U:UNDERESTIMATE

  • Not feeling like you can live up to expectations
  • Not thinking someone would actually commit suicide
  • Not achieving goals

V:VALUELESS

  • When you dont feel like youre worth something
  • When you dont think people care
  • When you dont think people would miss you

Y:YELLING

  • When parents yell at you It makes you stressed
  • When parents yell at each other
  • When you aregue with friends
  • When you argue with siblings
