PRESENTATION OUTLINE

ISO sensitivity

Sofia Navarrete

The ISO is that component of photography that allows us to take pictures even if the light conditions are not the best. Know how and when we use it - or not - it is essential to get the best photographer we have inside

how it works

  • In digital photography, the sensor or chip CCD is responsible for capturing images. This sensor consists of thousands of photosensitive cells that receive light, generate an electric current. As you can imagine, this current is converted into binary data that is stored in memory, and by each cell, create a pixel.

How can we measure the light on a camera?

  • The cameras measure light and it is with this graphic illustrating us data in order to decide whether to increase or decrease the values that come into play.

If for example we want to take a picture of a birthday, it is usually in the evening indoors (in a house or apartment) and the lighting is very low, there may be useful to manipulate the ISO to take a photo without a flash to give the desired effect. But if we are not careful a very high ISO can result in a picture with lots of noise. We call "noise" to the grainy effect that remains in the image, removing sharpness.
