Yes, polar bears do hibernate by scratching its body on the ice or on each other. They also hibernate by sleeping with each other closely in a deep sleep and rubbing themselves on other polar bears. Even the cub hug and rub against their little brothers or sisters. Isn’t that something new. By the way let’s move ahead.
The polar bear's life cycle is closely tied to sea ice. Polar bears rely on the ice to travel, hunt seals, breed, and in some cases, den. Scientists believe polar bears are unlikely to survive if ice-free periods exceed their fasting ability (220 days), especially in areas that lack alternate marine mammal prey.
